Aon #EmpowerResults in Lake County on Global Service Day
By Sue Baehr, Reading Success Volunteer Coordinator
Employees volunteer to make a difference with the makeover of Glenwood Elementary School in Waukegan
As part of their Global Service Day, Aon employees united in leadership and resources to provide Glenwood Elementary school students and staff with much needed improvements, updates and beautification (to the school). In addition, Aon employees were on hand to assist with Glenwood’s end of the year all school field day. More than 40 volunteers from Aon’s Lincolnshire facility participated in the Day of Caring, which was coordinated and facilitated by United Way of Lake County on Thursday, June 11th.
Global Service Day is the opportunity for Aon staff to have a real impact, to grow personally and professionally, as well as support each other and the local community.
“Pulling up the weeds and doing the garden, it is good to give back. I have had people do a lot of nice things for me. United Way, specifically, has helped my family, so to come here and help kids who are less fortunate and struggling, it’s a real good feeling. I am blessed to be doing this”, said Brigette Allen, Aon Retiree.

Raking and mulching, Aon volunteers also worked towards the beautification of the school’s main entrance and assisted with re-painting of safety lines in front of the school.
Aon volunteers also facilitated the school’s annual field day, including leading students at each of the activity stations.
“Aon is dedicated to making an impact in the community, especially when it comes to early childhood education”, said Anne McLaughlin, Aon Sales and Client Management. “We are so glad to have the opportunity to make a difference with the school makeover of Glenwood Elementary and it is truly inspiring to see many of our employees volunteering on Global Service Day to give back to the Lake County community where we live and work”.
Thank you Aon! You have truly made a mark on the students of Glenwood Elementary.
