Organize a Book Drive: Dr. Seuss Reading Day
This year, United Way of Lake County is celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday and Read Across America Day on March 1 by hosting a reading day at participating schools throughout Lake County.
Organize a Book Drive!
This year, we are collecting Dr. Seuss books that will be donated to schools in Lake County in honor of Read Across America Day. You can help by hosting a book drive with your friends, family or co-workers to collect new or gently-used Dr. Seuss books by Friday, February 22. Click on the flyer below to help promote your book drive.
Books Are An Ongoing Need
Our programs, such as Success By 6 and Reading Success focus on building early literacy skills so that children can develop strong reading skills and improve reading performance as they progress through school. For these programs to continue to pave the way for a child’s success, we are always collecting Dr. Seuss books in both English and Spanish. Here are a handful of Dr. Seuss book titles that you can donate:
English Books:
Are You My Mother
I Am Not Going to Get Up Today!
If I Ran the Rainforest
The Foot Book: Dr. Seuss’s Wacky Book of Opposites
Green Eggs and Ham
Spanish Books:
Un Pez, Dos Peces, Pez Rojo, Pez Azul
Huevos verdes con jamón
El Gato Ensombrerado
¿Eres mi Mamá?
Donations of other titles are welcome too!
