Classroom Tutors

We connect caring and committed volunteers with Waukegan elementary school students between first and third grades, who have been identified as needing extra one-on-one work to improve reading skills. Volunteer tutors help students get on track — and stay on track — with grade-level literacy.

When we help children read at grade level, we enable them to master more complex subjects needed to succeed in school and graduate.

For the 2020-2021 school year, trained reading volunteers will virtually connect with a minimum of two students once per week through May. Volunteers commit to one hour each week, and should enjoy reading with children, be comfortable using email and internet links, as well as have a desktop, laptop or tablet computer.
