211 and Community Impact Initiative Intern:
Participate in planning activities and implementation of 211 Program including:
Grant Research: Working with our Community Impact Department, you will be responsible for conducting research on the availability of corporate and family foundation grants for programs focusing on Education, Early Education, and the Digital Divide. You will work with the Grant Manager to analyze the potential of the funding opportunities and present your findings to the Community Impact program managers. Good computer and internet skills required.
Information Technology: Working with our IT Department to provide support in a wide variety of areas. You will ensure that all computers are running with the latest updates, provide computer support to staff as needed, installation of programs, and other projects surrounding our IT operations. This internship requires a solid knowledge of Microsoft Office; experience with PC is a plus.
Marketing/Communications: Work with the Marketing Department independently and with the team to implement and coordinate press and community relations through publicity and promotion with press, agencies, companies and staff. Community Impact Program Communications: This position works with staff, volunteers and clients of our Success By 6 (Early Learning), Reading Success (Elementary), and Stay in School (Middle/High School) Education initiatives. Intern will be in charge of recruiting and scheduling, planning/implementing projects that contribute to our programs when needed. Other duties could include researching best practices and gathering information about needed programs. Requires excellent verbal communication skills. Ability to speak English and Spanish strongly preferred.
Success By 6 and Community Impact Intern: This position will support the efforts of United Way of Lake County by assisting in the implementation of the Success By 6 Program and initiatives as well as assisting with other Community Impact initiatives. Summer Community Impact Internship: This position will assist schools and communities in addressing summer learning loss. The summer interns will assist in our offices and work with summer programs in Zion, Beach Park, North Chicago, and/or Waukegan, IL, to plan and implement academic summer programs for elementary and preschool age children. This position will also support the efforts of United Way of Lake County by assisting in the implementation of United Way of Lake County’s Community Impact programs and projects. Fluent Spanish is a plus. (unpaid internship)
